Types of Equipment

Outboard Motors

Track outboard motors separately when they might be moved between boats or serviced independently:

Trailers

Boat trailers require their own service records:

  • Wheel bearing service
  • Brake maintenance
  • Light and wiring repairs
  • Tire replacement
  • Registration and inspection

Marine Electronics

Track electronics packages for installation and service records:

  • GPS/Chartplotters
  • Radar systems
  • VHF radios
  • Fish finders
  • Autopilots

Adding Equipment

Equipment is added the same way as watercraft:

  1. Navigate to Watercraft (includes all assets)
  2. Click + Add
  3. Select the equipment type
  4. Enter the relevant details
  5. Link to the owner (customer)

Linking Equipment to Vessels

You can associate equipment with a specific vessel. For example, link an outboard motor to the boat it's currently mounted on. This helps track what's installed where.

Equipment Transfers

When equipment moves (motor swapped to different boat, electronics sold):

  1. Open the equipment record
  2. Click Transfer
  3. Select the new owner or vessel
  4. Add transfer date and notes

The service history stays with the equipment, providing continuity regardless of ownership changes.
